What Color Are You?
One of my very favorite classes to teach is called, “The Power of Color”. I love it because there are multitudinous ways in which color can heal and inspire and even shift our energy field. After all, we are vibrational beings, and our light body or auric field emanates color vibrations, even though we oftentimes cannot see them. Some people have a natural ability to read auras or “light bodies”. We also have technology that allows us to “see” our auric field. The colors that make up our auric field have important information for us concerning our emotions and our health. Whenever we make something unconscious, conscious, we have a tremendous opportunity to improve our life. I see Aura-Soma as a tool that helps me and those I help do just that, improve one’s quality of life.
I was introduced to Aura (color)-Soma (body) back in 2002 by an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Yoga Instructor and a Psychic Medium, yes, she was all that! Sherri came to teach a yoga mudra class at my business space in Rockport and as she placed these colored bottles around her altar I was spellbound. They spoke to me in a profound way. And I started a personal journey with Aura-Soma. First I read Vicky Walls book, Aura-Soma: Self-Discovery through Color. Then I went to Vermont to study with Carol Jean McKnight the multiple levels to become a certified Aura-Soma Consultant, in addition to fulfilling all requirements in-between the week long classes. It was a considerable amount of work including a thesis along with several client studies. I loved it!
But let’s talk about color. Color emerges from light and as Rudolf Steiner said, “Color is the soul element of nature and of the whole cosmos, and we have a share in this soul element when we experience color.’” Color is a universal language through which nature speaks. Understanding our own color preferences can help us in our own process of self-realization. Think about how we use color even in our communications. We use color in various phrases like: “I have the blues.” “He is red with rage.” She was green with envy.” “I am in the pink!” You may already know that when pure white light is refracted through a prism, seven distinct colors can be seen as a result of that refraction. Because we have light bodies, we really are walking and talking energetic rainbows!
Sherri introduced me to the Equilibrium bottles, (the heart of the Aura-Soma system), which are clear bottles with colored liquid in them, which include all the “kingdoms”. They consist of oil and water so the color in the upper fraction of the bottle is sometimes different from the color in the lower fraction of the bottle and when you shake the bottle you may get yet another color. In the early days of Aura-Soma, the water for the Equilibrium bottles was taken from the sacred Glastonbury Well but due to environmental restrictions this is no longer a possibility. The colorful Equilibrium bottle colors correlate to the seven major chakras as defined by the Vedic tradition. Chakras are energy vortexes that correlate to specific colors and are located over certain organs or bodily structures. The bottles also contain crushed gemstones (the mineral kingdom) as well as essential oils (the plant kingdom). These colorful Equilibrium bottles are the foundation of the Aura-Soma system and are used for readings and healing work.
When a client chooses a bottle they are choosing their own personal color code. The reading is based upon this “code”. Each Equilibrium bottle in the Aura-Soma system has a name, a number and a particular color code. Besides the color resonance in the chakras, some bottles are associated with specific tarot cards, some with specific planetary energies, some with zodiac signs and some with the tree of life. Some bottles are associated with the angelic realm, and some with the ascended masters. This system is simple but also rich in complexity. Like many esoteric systems it has many layers and the deeper one wants to dive the richer the conversation during a reading.
Vicky Wall the creator of the Aura-Soma system said, “You are the colors you choose and these reflect the being’s need.” So I ask you, “What color are YOU?”
