You Got The Power!
Jan Spiller, crossed over in 2016, yet she authored five astrology books including New Moon Astrology and Spiritual Astrology. She revered a unique approach to using Universal Forces for transformative power in one’s life. Spiller says that her approach to making wishes come true occurred when she used the optimal cycles within specific periods based upon the natal astrological chart. She called it the Granddaddy Power Period.
I’ve been studying astrology for several decades, and any astrologer will tell you it’s a lifelong vocation, one I'm dedicated to continuing. Astrology is a tool that isn’t necessary in everybody’s life but I find I like mine with it rather than without. So, when friends ask me if I believe in Astrology, I respond, “Do you believe in calendars? Time? Days of the week and cycles? Their roots are steeped in Astrology”. Sometimes they’re surprised, sometimes they write me off, but I agree with Visionary Activist and Astrologer, Carolyn W. Casey, anything that’s been dismissed as irrelevant or even dangerous to one’s soul, must be something worth looking into.
Astrology is about energy and cycles and whether one consults an Ephemeris or not, if one is in sync with picking up energy one can feel these cycles at work in one’s life. And these cycles aren’t just physical, they are emotional and spiritual. It’s all energy.
Jan Spiller’s Granddaddy Power Period is another tool. I taught this tool to my beginner astrology students and am looking forward to hearing back from them about how this plays out in their lives. It’s easy and fun to do.
This period is all about wishes, which Spiller says is a matter of declaring what we want to create, and getting our intentions clear. It involves thinking and feeling the wish with all your heart. Write down the wish rather than keying it on your computer as Spiller says you must write it down, then the wish becomes a declaration. This reminds me of metaphysician Florence Scovel Shinn whose books were a big influence on Hay House Guru, Louise Hay. Shinn authored several books and her books have greatly influenced my thinking too. Shinn’s Power of the Spoken Word, Your Word is your Wand, and The Secret Door to Success, though dated, speak about how the words we use and say aloud are important because they carry energy. So we really do need to mind what we say and the feelings behind the words. One can download Shinn’s books for free these days. I highly recommend them, even though her “lens” is different from mine, the content is valid and helpful.
What is the Granddaddy Power Period? It is a magical month based upon your natal chart in which, according to Spiller, the power of your wishes is most potent. Unlike affirmations which help stimulate the power of the mind to create a desired reality, wishing evokes surrender and the use of our magnetic power of receptivity. Wishing accepts our circumstances and relies upon the power of magic and spiritual help to create reality.
To find your Granddaddy power period you need your natal chart. You can get one free online. The power period occurs when the transiting sun is in your 11th house. So grab your natal chart and determine the degrees of your 11th house, when it starts and when it ends, then go to Spiller’s website, janspiller.com for the time frame of your magical wishing period that happens yearly at the same time, each and every year. It’s also all spelled out in her book New Moon Astrology which contains all the corresponding tables for your Granddaddy Power Period.
